Chiang Mai & Mae Hong Son
TOUR HIGHLIGHTS:
This trip is designed for cycling in 2 beautiful provinces of the North on
great scenic roads of "Chiang mai", a capital of the Lanna Thai
Kingdom by merging the various city-states in the region in 1296 and often
described as the "Flower of the North". Today Chiang Mai is the
economic, communications, cultural and tourism centre of Northern Thailand.
Here! We will visit its interesting famous places in and out the town where
it is making us understanding real local Northern Life. The second province
for riding is in "Mae Hong Son", Thailand's northern border city
hiding itself in between towering mountains with densely forested slopes,
stretching to the Burmese border. The little town of Mae Hong Son gives you
something different from other cities in the North. Most habitants in Mae
Hong Son are Shan race that came from Shans region in Myanmar and the hill
tribe people as Karen, Lisu, Hmong, Lahu, and Lua who live in remote villages
on mountain tops where elements of lifestyle have changed little in hundreds
of years so you will get various experience of their distinctive cultures,
architectural lifestyles, customs and traditions, and delicious cuisine.
ITINERARY:
Day 1: Chiang Mai
Meet at the Chiang Mai Airport (or hotel in Chiang Mai) then transfer to hotel.
Evening is short briefing about tour program and welcome dinner.

Day 2: Chiang Mai -
San Patong --- (Ride 50-70 km)
Today we will ride to visit ancient town of "Wiang Kum Kam" and
famous handicraft village of wood craving in "Ban Tawai". Afternoon
is free time to relax at the hotel.

Day 3: San Patong -
Hod --- (Ride 50-70 km)
Today we ride passing highland paddy fields that resemble a flowing stream,
teak forests to Hod. Visit "Ban Rai Phai Ngam" or "Sang Da
House Museum" which famous for its high quality traditionally woven cotton
of Pha Sang Da, a national artist of Thailand in traditionally woven cotton.

Day 4: Hod - Mae Sariang

Ride up and down hill on scenic road past mixed forest of teak and bamboo
of Nam Mae Cham to "Ob Laung National Park", an amazing natural
attraction comprising both splendid natural charms as well as mysterious scenery,
a zigzagging river flows in front of a picturesque gorge. The area is a high,
steep cliff with a narrow passage, creating strong currents and powerful echoes.
An area in the north of this stream is teeming with various kinds of plants
that provide a pleasant ambience all year round. Magnificent views of Ob Luang
National Park can be seen from the bridge that links with the gorge. An interesting
prehistoric archaeological site is also located in the park.

Day 5: Mae Sariang
- Khun Yuam --- (Ride 90-100 km)
Still continue ride up and down hill on scenic border road of Thailand and
Myanmar past hill tribe villages and mountainside teak forest through "Khun
Yuam", famous for its 1,000 rai of wild sun flower field or "Bua
Tong" that all are in bloom during November which make the hills and
surrounding areas look plated with gold.

Day 6: Khun Yuam -
Mae Hong Son --- (Ride 70-80 km)
Ride up and down hill on scenic border road of Thailand and Myanmar past mountainside
teak forest and fruit plantations to Mae Hong Son. Mae Hong Son has long been
isolated from the outside world by its location that nestled in a deep valley
hemmed in by high mountain ranges. Virtually covered with mist throughout
the year, the name refers to the fact that the terrain is highly suitable
for the training of elephants.

Day 7: Mae Hong Son

Today we riding around the town to visit an interesting place as: Wat Phrathat
Doi Kong Mu, a hilltop temple affords a wonderful view of the city and surrounding
mountains and valley; Wat Chong Kham which was built by the Shans features
a multi-roofed chedi; and Wat Chong Klang, the oldest temples in Mae Hong
Song built in the late 19th century which has distinctive white and gold chedis

Day 8: Mae Hong Son
- Pang Mapha ---- (Ride 80-100 km)
Continue ride up and down hill on border scenic road sites in the mountain
ranges links Thailand and Myanmar to Mae Hong Son town, one of the dream destinations
of mountain lovers. We stops en route to visit the fish cave forest park or
"Thum Pla" which at its mouth of the cave natural springs from beneath
the mountain creating a pool in which many large fishes lives. Thum Pla is
not only famous for the fishes but also the natural setting makes it a perfect
place to discover the wonders of nature, such as the tiny snails and the wide
variety of ferns.

Day 9: Pang Mapha -
Pai ---- (Ride 50-60 km)
Ride up and down hill on spectacular scenic road past numerous hill tribe
communities and mountainside plantations of tea and coffee through the small
town of "Pai", one of Northern Thailand's top beauty spots that
were popular for trekkers and lovers of mountain scenery. Here! it has approximately
20,000 inhabitants coming from a mixture of ethnic groups, including Shan,
Northern Thai, Lisu, Lahu, Karen, Haw Chinese and some Hmong. The town itself
nestles in a beautiful valley and there are numerous small villages dotted
around the mountains. Late afternoon is for relaxing on the resort's hot spring
pool.

Day 10: Pai - Mae Tang

Today we ride climbing up and down hill on scenic road passing up land with
agricultural villages of hill tribes and fruit orchards. A beautiful view
point to natural mountain ranges of "Huai Nam Dang National Park"
lies on our way. We come through the small town of Mae Tang, a charming sub-district
of Chiang Mai "Mae Tang Valley" where you can see the fantastic
countryside is hidden in including to witness everyday scenes in the region's
many Lisu, Karen and Hmong villages.

Day 11: Mae Taeng -
Chiang Mai ----- (Ride 50-70 km)
After breakfast, begin riding on scenic road that follow along the main river
of the north "Mae Ping" heading to Chiang Mai town past rice fields,
temples and agricultural villages. After dinner is free time to visit the
famous night market of Chiang Mai.

Day 12: Chiang Mai
After breakfast transfer to the Chiang mai Airport (or stay extra in Chiang
Mai, optional).

Day time is for adventure, fun and seeing beautiful world, but night time shall make a restful, deep sleep possible.

- We provides good quality 24 gear bicycle with front suspension that fixed
for your height from size 13" till size 20" including helmets (size
medium and large) and bicycle water bottles.
- A support air-con van or 4WD truck with Thule roof rack accompanies during
riding to carry supplies, bicycle tools & spare parts, first aid kits,
drinking water, snacks and provide a welcome break when your have had enough
peddling for the day.
- Our experienced bicycle trailed leader accompanies group during riding with
a two-way radios.
- Cycle route and distance of riding can be change and adjust to fit for personal
physical training of people on each group
